Paperization and the Real State of Residential Curbside Recycling

Cohen will present some highlights of a recent deep dive he’s completed about the state of RESIDENTIAL recycling, regarding tonnage collected, costs to collect, and contamination and he will present his vision for its future. Furthermore, with plastic packaging in the sights of regulators, environmentalists, retailers, and brands, Cohen will show several examples of PAPERIZATION…..how brands have transitioned FROM plastic TO paper packaging, with real world examples, and the PROS and CONS of doing so.
Myles Cohen is the founder of recycling and sustainable packaging advisory firm Circular Ventures, LLC. He also serves on the boards of VIPA USA, the largest independent seller of recovered fiber globally, and the Pack Green Coalition. Myles has been in the packaging and recycling industry for the past two decades, where he served as president of Pratt Industries’ recycling division and on the company’s executive committee. Prior to Pratt he was President of Sonoco Recycling and on their executive committee. He is a past president of Paper Stock Industries, ISRI’s national chapter for paper recyclers and producers.
