US EPA National Recycling Strategy and Sustainable Materials Management Updates
Alyssa Kuhn, Sustainable Materials Management (SMM) Project Manager, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency - Region 4
There have been changes to the EPA's Sustainable Materials Management program including the 10 Year Vision and transition to a Circular Economy Program. The National Recycling Strategy is the first part of the EPA's 6-part Circular Economy Strategy Series. All of the objectives for the National Recycling Strategy feed a 10-year vision that embraces circularity, sustainable materials management and addresses climate change and environmental justice.
Alyssa Kuhn is a recent addition to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency - Region 4. She joins the PCB & Sustainability Section where she serves as a Sustainable Materials Management Project Manager. Prior to the EPA, Alyssa has worked with the private sector, local, and state governments: Orange County, Florida and State of Florida, respectively. She has a Bachelors from the University of Central Florida and a Masters in Natural Resources and Global Sustainability from Virginia Tech. Alyssa is excited for the opportunity to make a positive impact in the sustainability realm through work with the EPA and coordination with state, tribal, and local counterparts.
