Stephen “SK” Klemannt

Presentation Title:

Localized Modular MRF's

Stephen “SK” Klemann, Director of Sales, Closed Loop Partners

Abstract:

This presentation will outline future opportunities to expand processing capabilities while creating a more sustainable environment for materials recovery, holistically.

In the United States, access to recyclable processing infrastructure has been limited to a point where processing costs have become unsustainable for many communities and haulers with existing recycling programs are looking to initiate new programs. These challenges are magnified when it’s necessary to transfer or deliver long distances to regional facilities. The solutions offered by Circular Services will empower communities and haulers by deploying Localized Modular MRF’s (LMM’s) to expand the availability of processing, stabilize costs, and create economic value. Closed Loop Partners and Circular Services offers a white board approach where we can provide system designs, operations and/or industry access to low interest loan infrastructure opportunities.

On November 15, 2022, Closed Loop Partners (CLP) and Brookfield Renewable (“Brookfield”) officially announced the establishment of Circular Services, a leading developer of circular economy and recycling infrastructure in the United States. Circular Services, has twelve recycling facilities in operation today, and provides holistic, circular materials management to close the loop on valuable materials for municipalities and businesses throughout the United States. Circular Services is the largest privately held recycling company in North America. It holds major municipal and commercial contracts to recycle and reuse paper, metal, glass, plastic, organics, textiles and electronics in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Florida, Texas and Arizona. The company has a total annual recycling capacity of over one million tons and a large pipeline of actionable growth opportunities.

Employing innovative technology within reuse, recycling, remanufacturing and re-commerce solutions, Circular Services improves regional economic and environmental outcomes by building resilient systems to keep food & organics, textiles, electronics, packaging and more, in circulation and out of landfill or the natural environment.

Its facilities increase the number of sustainable jobs in the communities they serve, promote local re-commerce and remanufacturing, and enable resilient communities.

The Circular Services management team includes a diverse group of executives – each with decades of experience in recycling operations, circular economy strategy, city operations, financial management, investments and M&A.

The formation of Circular Services expands access to circular economy initiatives driven by CLP, including new MRF infrastructure and loan opportunities for municipal and private companies centered on localized economic initiatives.
